  If your KYMCO Scooter's engine won't start or is hard to start, begin by checking if fuel reaches the carburetor by loosening the drain screw. If fuel delivery isn't the issue, remove the spark plug, install it into the spark plug cap, and test for a spark by connecting it to the engine ground. If there is no spark, the AC generator, ignition coil, or exciter coil may be broken or shorted. If the spark is OK, test the cylinder compression. Finally, try starting the engine by following the normal starting procedure.

If the starter motor turns slowly, check the battery circuit by operating the turn signals. If the starter motor does not turn, it could be due to open or shorted wires or rotor, an open starter motor cable, or loose connectors.

  If your KYMCO Scooter engine lacks power, start by starting the engine and accelerating lightly to observe. If the issue persists, check the ignition timing using a timing light. After that, inspect and check the valve clearance. Finally, test cylinder compression and check the carburetor for clogging. Remove the spark plug and inspect it, and also check the cylinder head oil pipe bolt.
