Enginebelts
Fanandalternatorbelt
Thebelt-(1)thatdrivesthecoolingfanandalternatoris
locatedatthefrontoftheengine.
When5 kg(11 lb)ofpressureisappliedmidwaybetween
thebeltpulleys,acorrectlytightenedbeltwilldeect5 mm
(0.2 in).atpoint(A).
Ifthefanbeltisslipping,fanefciencyislowered,resulting
intheenginerunningtoohot.orthealternatornotcharging
Ifthebeltistootight,thelifeofthealternatorbearingwill
beshortened.Ifthefanbeltshowssignsofcrackingor
fraying,installanewone.

Toadjustfanandalternatorbelttension:
1.Loosenthetwobolts(2)onthealternator,usinga
prybar,pullthealternatorawayfromtheengineto
applytensiontobelt.
2.Whenproperbelttensionisachieved,tightenthe
twoalternatorbolts.
Airpumpbelt
Thebelt(3)thatdrivestheengineairpumpislocatedat
thefrontoftheengine.
When5 kg(11 lb)ofpressureisappliedmidwaybetween
thebeltpulleys,acorrectlytightenedbeltwilldeect
10 mm(0.4 in).atpoint(B).

Toadjustairpumpbelttension:
1.Loosenairpumpmountingbolt(4).
2.Rotateadjustmentbolt(5)clockwisetotightenor
counterclockwisetoloosenthebelttension.
3.Whenproperbelttensionisachieved,tightenair
pumpmountingbolt.

NOTE:Iftheairpumpbeltisslipping,pumpefciencyislowered.Resultinginthe(DPF)burningnotoperatingat
ahighenoughtemperatureordifcultyinstartingburner.Ifthebeltistootight,thelifeofthepumpbearingwillbe
shortened.Ifthefanbeltshowssignsofcrackingorfraying,installanewone.
