NX-series Communications Interface Units User’s Manual (W540)
The data reception time is the total of time E and time F in the following diagram.
The data reception times are the same as the data send time
s when transmission buffering is disabled.
For example, the data reception times for various baud rate
and I/O refresh cycles are given in the fol-
lowing table for these parameter values.
Data Reception Times [ms]
Data Reception Times
Letter Definition
E The time from when the CIF Unit starts receiv
ing data from the serial line until receiving is completed
F The time from when the CIF Unit finishes receiving data from the
serial line until transferring the data
to the CPU Unit or communications master is completed

Receive data sent from
the CIF Unit to the
communications master
Receive data on
the serial line
The first receive data is immediately sent to the CPU Unit or communica-
tions master after it is passed from the serial line to the CIF Unit.
Data reception time [ms] = E [ms] + F [ms]
Bits per character
E [ms] = × Number of characters × 1,000
Baud rate [bps]
F [ms] = I/O refresh cycle [ms] × Number of I/O refreshes
