Set the camera to the still image
shooting mode (see page 35).

Press the shutter release button to
take the picture.

Point the camera lens at the
subject. Slowly press and hold the
shutter release button halfway.
œ The target mark [ê] or the focus
icon [ë] (focus-lock) appears in
the LCD monitor.
œ If the Shooting Setting Screen
(see page 44) was displayed, it is
temporarily canceled.
2 Press the shutter release button all
the way.
œ The self-timer indicator flashes,
and the shutter is released.

NOTE
About the focus icon and target mark
œ The target mark outlines the area that the camera is using to focus. If the
area outlined by the target mark is not the subject you want to focus on,
then refocus your subject, for example by changing the shooting angle.
œ The target mark and focus icon does not appear in the following situations:
œ
When the subject is not in focus
œ
When using the self-timer to take a picture (see page 64)
œ When the camera focuses on a wide area of the central part of the screen,
a large target mark appears.
