4. Press the espresso button 25 and let
approx. 100 ml of water run through
the steam nozzle.
5. Press the espresso button 25 again
to disengage it and stop the water.
6. Set the dial5 back to OFF.
7. Insert the portafilter19 with the select-
ed filter1/2 without espresso powder.
8. Place a container on the drip grid14.
9. Press the espresso button 25 and let
approx. 100 ml of water run into the
container.
10. Press the espresso button 25 again
to disengage it and stop the water.
11. Pour away the dishwater.
12. Turn the handle of the portafilter19 to
the left until it reaches the symbol
16 and remove it downwards.
13. Rinse the portafilter19 with the fil-
ter1/2 with clean water and dry it.
NOTE: when you use the device for the first
time, make approx. 5 cups of espresso and
pour them away. The first cups will not taste
very good.
9.7 Preheating the cups
When the device is ready for use, the hot
plate4 will be heated up.
Place the cups on the hot plate4 to pre-
heat them.
Alternatively, you can use the cup you want
to preheat for flushing. This allows you to
preheat the brewing head13, filter1/2
and portafilter19 and the cup in one step.
Another possibility is preheating with hot
water from the steam nozzle8 (see “Extract-
ing hot water” on page 65).
9.8 Preheating the filter

preparation. This preheating of the filter and
brewing head (flushing) improves the taste of
the espresso.
Requirements:
-
The device is ready to be used. The espres-
so
LED26 lights up continuously.
- The dial5 is set to OFF.
1. Insert the portafilter19 with the select-
ed filter1/2 without espresso powder.
2. Place a cup under the portafilter19.
3. Press the espresso button 25 and let
approximately the amount of water run
into the container to make one espresso
(approx. 40 ml).
4. Press the espresso button 25 again
to disengage it and stop the water.
5. Leave the hot water in the cup to pre-
heat and pour it out immediately before
the brewing process.
6. Remove the portafilter19 with
filter1/2.
7. Dry off the portafilter19 with
filter1/2.
