Remedy:
- Check that the espresso powder is
ground finely enough.
- Use more espresso powder.
- Make sure that the espresso powder
is evenly compacted without cracks.
- Exert more pressure when tamping.
• Over-extraction can be recognised
by the fact that the espresso drips slow-
ly into the cup and tastes bitter.
Remedy:
- Use less espresso powder.
- Do not exert too much pressure when
tamping.
• Clean your espresso machine regularly.
Coffee residues or clogged pores alter
the taste.
• Always use fresh tap water that is not
too hard. If your tap water is hard, you
can use filtered water from a standard
water filter.
13. Extracting hot
water
DANGER! Risk of injury
through scalding!
Hot steam and hot water are released
when using the steam nozzle8. The
steam nozzle becomes very hot. Only
touch the steam nozzle by the plastic
handle10. Never put hands or other
parts of your body in the steam.
You can draw hot water (approx. 80 °C)
from the steam nozzle8, for example for an
Americano or to preheat cups.
You can turn the steam nozzle8 back and
forth.
Requirements:

The device is ready to be used. The espres-
so
LED26 lights up continuously.
1. Place a container under the steam noz-
zle8.
2. Turn the dial5 to the symbol .
3. Press the espresso button 25. Hot
water flows from the steam nozzle8.
4.
Stop the process at the latest when
100ml of water has passed through by
pressing the espresso
button 25
again to disengage it.
5. Set the dial5 back to OFF.
The espresso LED26 flashes and the device
heats up again. When the espresso LED is
continuously lit, the device is ready to brew
espresso again.
NOTE: the maximum time for hot water ex-
traction is approx. 80 seconds. The function
then stops automatically. Turn the dial5
back to OFF and release the espresso
button 25. When the device has heated
up again, the function can be used again.
