WARNING
Fire hazard!
Keep fuel and other flammable products
away from electric components.
Never invert the battery cables.
Ensure that the ignition switch is in the
"" position before connecting or
disconnecting the battery, otherwise
some components might damage.
Connect the positive cable (+) first and
then the negative cable (-).
Disconnect in the reverse order.
NOTE This vehicle is fitted with a
maintenance-free battery which seldom
needs inspecting and may need charging
from time to time.
CLEANING AND CHECKING
BATTERY TERMINALS AND LEAD
CONNECTIONS
Read page 98 (BATTERY) carefully.
◆ Ensure the ignition switch is in the ""
position.
◆ Remove the rider saddle, see page 81
(REMOVING THE RIDER SADDLE).
◆ Slide the red protective cap (1) aside.
◆ Check that battery lead connections (2)
and battery terminals (3) are:
√ in good condition (free from corrosion or
any deposits);
√ coated with neutral grease or Vaseline.
If needed:
◆ Remove the battery, see page 99
(BATTERY REMOVAL).
◆ Clean off any corrosion deposits from the
battery lead connections (2) and
terminals (3) using a wire brush.
◆ Refit the battery, see page 101
(INSTALLING THE BATTERY).
