▶ Set the transition break from star to delta operation
to 40 .. 60ms, including the reaction time of the con-
tactors.
Direct-on-line start
▶ Connect the mains phases at motor pins according
to the label in the terminal box cover.
▶ Mount bridges according to the label in the terminal
box cover.
6.3.3 Operation with frequency inverter (FI) or soft
starter
▶ Connect motor in direct-on-line start. For FI opera-
tion, it is preferable to select a star-delta motor and
connect it in the delta direct-on-line start. If the FI
fails, the motor can be operated in star connection
directly on the power supply.
▶ The soft starter should be set in a way to allow the
motor to reach its rated speed in less than
2seconds.

6.4 Control logic requirements

The control logic of the superior system control-
ler must meet the specified requirements in any
case.
• desirable minimum running time: 5 minutes
• maximum cycling rate:
– max. 6 starts per hour in case of series HS.64,
HS.74, CS.6. and CS.7.
– max. 4 starts per hour from series HS.8. and
CS.8. on
• minimum standstill time:
– 5 minutes up to series HS.8. and CS.9.
– 10 minutes from series HS.9. and CS.105 on
The minimum standstill time is the time the control
slider needs to reach the optimal start position. If the
compressor has been shut off from the 25%-CR stage
1 minute standstill time is enough.
▶ Also observe minimum standstill times during main-
tenance work!
▶ When using a star-delta motor, shut it off from the
25%-CR stage!
6.5 Terminal box
In its state of delivery, the standard terminal box has
enclosure class IP54. Several knockouts are pre-
formed. All holes are screwed or sealed with plugs. All
openings are suitable for cable bushings according to
EN50262.

6.5.2 Connections in the terminal box
In the terminal box one or two protective earth con-
ductor connections, the connections for motor temper-
ature monitoring and for power voltage supply of the
motor are located.
