Remove oil dipstick 1.
Check engine oil level ( 93).
Add engine oil up to specified
level.
Check engine oil level ( 93).
Install oil dipstick.
Brake system
Checking brake operation
Actuate the handbrake lever.
Pressure point must be clearly
perceptible.
Actuate the footbrake lever.
Pressure point must be clearly
perceptible.
If no clear pressure points are
perceptible:
Have the brakes checked at an
authorized workshop, preferably
an authorized BMW Motorrad
retailer.
Checking front brake pad
thickness
Make sure ground is level and
firm and park motorcycle.
Visually inspect left and right
brake pads from the front to
determine their thickness. Di-
rection of view: between wheel
and front suspension to brake
calipers.
Front brake-pad wear
limit
min 0.04 in (min 1.0 mm)
(Only friction material without
carrier plate. The wear mark-
ings (grooves) must be clearly
visible.)
If the wear indicators are no
longer clearly visible:
