4. Initial commissioning
4.1 Fitting the storage battery
WARNING -- Danger of explosion when
charging the storage battery!
Burns and injury can be caused if the
storage battery explodes from improper
charging!
¶ Only use the batteries designated for
DCU 220.
¶ Only use the storage battery charging
station designated for DCU 220.
¶ Only use the power supply unit specified
for the DCU 220.
¶ Heed the notes on disposal.
¶ Storage battery must not be heated,
burnt, short-circuited, mechanically dam-
aged and charged with excessively high
currents or reverse polarity!
¶ Suitable extinguishing agents: water, CO
2
,
sand.
Open the cover for the storage battery ( on the left or
on the right side) that you want to insert.
1. Push the cover lock into unlocked position ( ) ().
2. Push the cover upward ().
3. Open the cover.

4. Push the storage battery completely into the com-
partment with the labeling upward.
5. Push the storage battery lock to the left into locked
position; make sure not to pull on the ribbon.
6. Close the cover and push it downward until it locks
in place.
7. Then push the lock into locked position ( ).
! The lock can only engage if the cover is snapped in.
The lock must be securely engaged so that the bot-
tom, red part cannot be seen.
4.2 Plug socket
Prior to the initial commissioning, make sure the mains
voltage coincides with the voltage specified on the pow-
er supply unit (use the power supply cable provided).
i The scope of delivery only includes the German pow-
er supply cable.

4.3 Securing the stylus
The stylus can be secured to the laptop using the
string.

4.4 Operating system installation
1. Connect the power supply unit.
2. Switch on the DCU 220.
3. After switching on for the first time, use the lan-
guage selection menu to select the Windows operat-
ing system language and follow the message.
i The language cannot be changed later any more.
Should this still be necessary, contact your Bosch
authorized dealer.
i Wireless radio link information is displayed during
installation. Please heed these notes. Additional
instructions can be found in sec. 2.5. In general, we
recommend you to use the internal Bluetooth hard-
ware DCU 220.
4.5 Software installation
Depending on the use, the Boschuser softwaremust
then be installed. The corresponding installation in-
structions can be found in the directions for the respec-
tive Bosch products.
