The red POWER/CHG indicator flashes rapidly (one flash at 0.5-second intervals).
- The temperature of the battery pack is outside its operating range (approximately 0
– 40 °C (32 – 104 °F)). Remove the battery pack, warm it or let it cool down, as
necessary, and try charging it again.
- Charge the battery pack in temperatures between approximately 0 °C and
40 °C (32 °F and 104 °F).
- The battery pack is damaged. Use a different battery pack.
- Canon’s LP-E6 Battery Pack cannot be charged. Check the bottom label of the
battery pack and make sure it is an LP-E6N Battery Pack.
- Charging has stopped because the compact power adapter or the battery pack is faulty. Consult a Canon Service
Center.
7 keeps flashing on the screen.
- You connected the optional GP-E2 GPS Receiver to the camcorder’s USB terminal in or mode. Disconnect
the GP-E2 and connect in again after setting the camcorder in or mode.
appears in yellow on the screen.
- The camcorders internal temperature has risen to a predetermined level. The camcorder can continue to be used
without issue.

- After appears in yellow on the screen, the camcorder’s internal temperature has risen even higher. The camcorder
can continue to be used without issue.
Picture and Sound
The screen appears too dark.
- The LCD screen was dimmed. Change the [System Setup] > [1] > [LCD Backlight] setting to [Normal] or [Bright].
Screen displays turn on and off repeatedly.
- The battery pack is exhausted. Replace or charge the battery pack.
- Remove the battery pack and reattach it correctly.
Abnormal characters appear on the screen and the camcorder does not operate properly.
- Disconnect the power source and reconnect it after a short time.
Video noise appears on screen.
- Keep a distance between the camcorder and devices that emit strong electromagnetic fields such as near powerful
magnets and motors, MRI machines or high-voltage power lines.
Horizontal bands appear on the screen.
- This is a phenomenon typical of CMOS image sensors when recording under some types of fluorescent, mercury or
sodium lamps. This is not a malfunction. In mode, you may be able to reduce the symptoms by setting [Camera
Setup] > [1] > [Flicker Reduction] to [Automatic]. Alternatively, or in mode, set the shutter speed to a value
matching the frequency of the local electrical system (1/50 or 1/100 for 50 Hz systems, 1/60 or 1/120 for 60 Hz
systems).
The viewfinder unit picture is blurred.
- Adjust the viewfinder unit with the dioptric adjustment lever (A 22).
Audio cannot be recorded.
- The external audio source connected to the MIC terminal is not turned on or its battery is empty.
Sound is distorted or is recorded at lower levels.
- When recording near loud sounds (such as fireworks, shows or concerts), sound may become distorted or it may not
be recorded at the actual levels. Adjust the audio recording level manually (A 79).
The picture is displayed correctly but there is no sound from the built-in speaker.
- Speaker volume is turned off. Adjust the volume (A 105).
- Sound will not be output from the built-in speaker while headphones or the supplied HTC-100/S High Speed HDMI
cable is connected to the camcorder. Disconnect the headphones or HDMI cable.
