5.3 Indoor Fan Motor (DC Motor) or Related Abnormality

Method of Error
Detection
The rotation speed detected by the Hall IC during indoor fan motor operation determines abnormal
fan motor operation.
Error Decision
Conditions
The detected rotation speed does not reach the demanded rotation speed of the target tap, and is
less than 50% of the maximum fan motor rotation speed.

Causes
 Remarkable decrease in power supply voltage
 Layer short inside the fan motor winding
 Breaking of wire inside the fan motor
 Breaking of the fan motor lead wires
 Defective capacitor of the fan motor
 Defective indoor unit PCB

Be sure to turn off the power switch before connecting or disconnecting
connectors, or parts may be damaged.
Check the connector for
connection.
Note: The motor may break when the
motor connector is disconnected
with the power supply on.
(Turn off the power supply before
connecting the connector also.)
∗ To secure the connection,
once disconnect the connector
and then reconnect it.
Foreign matters in or
around the fan?
Rotate the fan by hand.
Correct the connection.
Remove the foreign matters.
Turn off the power supply.
(Unplug the power cable or turn
the breaker off.)
