7.4.3 Removing 2.5-inch HDD/SSD modules

Preliminary steps

If the HDD/SSD module to be removed is combined into a RAID array,
please proceed as follows:
RAID level Procedure
RAID 0
CAUTION
RAID 0 provides no data redundancy.
In case of an HDD module is defect, all
data are lost!
RAID 1
RAID 5
Removing an HDD/SSD module from a RAID 1 or
RAID 5 array will not result in data loss. However,
the removed drive needs to be replaced
immediately by an HDD/SSD module of the same
or larger capacity
.
After replacing the HDD/SSD module,
RAID rebuild will be performed as a
background process, see "Performing a
RAID array rebuild" on page 105
.
In order to permanently remove an operational HDD/SSD module that is part of
a RAID array from the server, you first need to delete the array using
ServerV
iew RAID Manager.
