Operating principle
Xcellerex XDM and XDUO mixers are standalone systems for liquid-liquid and liquid-solid
mixing operations for biopharmaceutical applications. The mixing process is designed
to minimize the risk of cross-contamination.
An aseptic single-use bag is installed in the vessel and the mixing process is done inside
the disposable bag. The liquid ingredients are introduced through aseptic integral fittings.
The solid ingredients are added through a port at the top of the disposable bag using a
hopper or a powder bag.
Mixing of the disposable bag contents is done by an agitator that is magnetically coupled
to an impeller installed inside the bag. The agitation is provided by a servo drive and a
motor.
The contents of the disposable bag are monitored during the mixing process, using
probes that are inserted into the bag through aseptic connections.
The finished product is collected through the drain tubing at the bottom of the disposable
bag.
