9. PKA/VKA/VLA types only:
Release the flywheel brake lever, and then completely
disconnect the lower end of the flywheel brake cable and
Z-fitting from the brake assembly (P. 11 -1 7
).
10. Remove the six 8 x 25 mm bolts and the crankcase cover
with the ignition coil and flywheel brake or side plate
assembly still attached (P. 1 0- 2
).
PKA/VKA/VLA types only: To access the left center
crankcase cover bolt, manually engage the flywheel brake
with your hand so the bolt is accessible.
Use a flat screwdriver and pry at the two pry points shown
to lift the crankcase cover off the crankcase.
Disconnect the breather tube from the cover.
11. Disconnect the connecting rod from the crankshaft by
removing two connecting rod bolts and end cap, and then
push the piston and connecting rod fully into the cylinder
(P. 10-8
).
12. Remove the crankshaft, timing gear, and thrust washer
from the crankcase by lifting straight out (P. 1 0- 8
).
