4. FLYWHEEL BRAKE CABLE
PKA/VKA/VLA TYPES ONLY
REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
1. Cut the two cable ties that secure the flywheel brake cable to the handlebar.
2. Hold the 6 mm locking nut in place with a wrench, and then fully loosen the 6 x 45 mm flange bolt to remove the
flywheel brake cable assembly from the handlebar assembly. Be sure to turn the bolt and not the nut when
removing.
3. Remove the flywheel brake cable Z-fitting from the blade control lever.
4. Pinch the flywheel brake cable lock with needle-nose pliers and remove the cable lock from the flywheel brake
cable bracket.
5. Slide the inner cable through the cable holder slot.
6. Remove the flywheel brake cable Z-fitting from the flywheel brake arm.
7. Install the flywheel brake cable in the reverse order of removal.
8. Install new cable ties as shown for the appropriate type beginning on page 2-21
.
9. Start the engine and confirm flywheel brake operation.
