ENGINE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION HRN216
1. PKA/VKA TYPES
REMOVAL
1. Drain the gasoline from the fuel tank and carburetor into
an approved container.
2. Remove the flywheel brake cable from its bracket, and
disconnect the Z-fitting cable end from the engine.
3. Remove the recoil grip and rope from the handlebar
(P. 11-12
).
4. Drain the engine oil (P. 3 -6
) and reinstall the oil dipstick.
Continue to keep the mower tilted on its right side so the
carburetor is facing up.
5. Remove the blades and blade holder as an assembly.
Use a pair of thick leather gloves to hold the blades with
your hand to prevent the blades from turning, and then
remove the center 3/8-24 x 1 inch special bolt.
6. VKA type only:
Remove the belt guide, and drive pulley (P. 4 - 4
).
7. Remove the two shoulder bolts attaching the Clip
Director® lever.
8. Remove the three screws and Roto-Stop cover/shutter
from the mower deck. See page 12-1
for detailed
removal instructions.
