7. RECOIL STARTER
1. TOP COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
1. Remove the fuel tank cap before removing the top cover.
2. Loosen the 5 x 8 mm screw, and then remove the spring nut, as shown below.
3. Pull outward on the two red tabs on each side of the top cover to unlatch the top cover from the fan cover.
4. Reassembly is the reverse order of removal. Be sure the top cover is securely latched to the fan cover, and the
recoil starter grip is pulled through the hole in the top cover. Reattach the starter grip to the handlebar.

Complete removal of the screw
is not necessary.

INSTALLATION:
Attach the fuel tank cap tether
into the hole in top cover.
TETHER
1.0 N•m (0.7 ft-lb)
