As
with
all
color
monitors,
the
displa
yis
very
susceptible to
external magnetic
elds.
These
elds can
originate from
many
sources,
including
unshielded
motors,
metal
frame
tables,
and
from
the
earth
itself.
The
usual
symptom
is
a
discoloration
or
sligh
t
dimming
of the
display
usually
near
the
top
left
corner of
the displa
y.
If this
problem
is
observ
ed,
remo
v
e
the
device
causing the
magnetic eld.
In
extreme cases,
a
total
color
shift
ma
y
b
e
observ
ed;
for
example,
a
trace
that
w
as
red
ma
y
shift
to
green.
This
do
es
not
indicate
a
problem
with
the
displa
y; it
is c
haracteristic of
all
color
displa
ys.
In
coun
tries
that
use
50
Hz
AC
p
o
w
er,
some
10
Hz
jitters
ma
y
b
e
noticed.
1. If
the displa
y
b
ecomes
magnetized,
or
if
color
purit
y
is
a
problem,
cycle
the
analyzer
p
o
w
er
sev
eral
times.
Lea
v
e the
instrument
o for
at least
15
seconds
b
efore
turning
it
on.
This
will
activ
ate
the
automatic
degaussing
circuitry
in
the
displa
y
.
2.
If
the
displa
y
color
purit
y
is
still
a
problem,
y
ou
m
ust
use
a
commercially
a
v
ailable
demagnetizer
suc
h
as
a
CRT
demagnetizer
or
a
bulk
tap
e
eraser.
F

the
man
ufacturer's
instructions
k
eeping
in
mind
of
the
follo
wing:
A
t
the
rst
pass,
do
NOT
place
the
demagnetizer
closer
than
4
inc
hes
(10
cm)
from
the
face
of
the
display
while
demagnetizing
the
displa
y
.
A
t
the
second
pass,
if
y
ou
did
not
completely demagnetize
the displa
y
,
mo
v
e
the
demagnetizer
to
a
sligh
tly
closer
distance
un
til
the
displa
y
is
demagnetized.
Caution
If
y
ou
apply
an
excessively
strong magnetic
eld to
the displa
y
face,
y
ou
can
p
ermanen
tly
destro
y
the
displa
y
.
