Danger
Danger of poisoning Exhaust gases are toxic and
inhaling them may result in unconsciousness and
death.
– Always make sure there is sufficient ventilation
when running the engine.
– Use effective exhaust extraction when starting or
running the engine in an enclosed space.
– Start the engine and check the response.
18.2 Checking the engine oil level
Preparatory work
– Stand the motorcycle upright on a horizontal surface.

The engine is cold.
– Check the engine oil level.
The engine oil reaches the lower edge of level

– Add engine oil. ( p. 131)
Condition
The engine is at operating temperature.
– Check the engine oil level.

After switching off the engine, wait one minute
before checking the level.

18.3 Changing the engine oil and oil filter, cleaning the oil screens
Warning
Danger of scalding Engine and gear oil get very hot when the motorcycle is ridden.
– Wear suitable protective clothing and safety gloves.
– In the event of scalding, rinse the area affected immediately with lukewarm water.
