Playing Tapes
If there are 4-second or longer blanks between tracks on recorded tapes, you can use the Music Scan feature to find the beginning of a track.

Music Scan (Finding Songs)
To find the beginning of a music track use the Music Scan feature. Music Scan
searches for blank portions that usually separates tracks, then plays the next track.
Finding the Beginning of the current song
Press the << or >» button during play.
Make sure you press the <4 or > button in the opposite direction to tape play.
Searching stops automatically at the beginning of the current song, and the current
song starts automatically.

Make sure you press the «<4 or » button in the same direction to tape play.
Searching stops automatically at the beginning of the next song, and the next song
starts automatically.
Notes
The Music Scan feature works by detecting a 4 second blank at the beginning of each
selection, so it won’ t work well if your tape has:
+ No blank at the beginning of a track.
+ Noise (often caused by much used or poor quality dubbing) which fills the blank with
noise.
+ Long very soft passages or pauses ina selection. Music Scan will detect these instead
of the 4 second blanks. If this happens, just go ahead with Music Scan again until you
reach the selection you want.
Music Scan only works on one tape“at a time.
+ If you perform the Music Scan on deck A during recording on deck B, deck B enters
recording pause mode.
* Ifyou start recording on deck B while Music Scan is performed on deck A, Music Scan
is stopped.
