STARTING THE ENGINE
WARNING
Do not start the engine in a closed
room. Otherwise, the air will be
polluted with exhaust gas which
is very dangerous.
Make it a rule to set main gear
shift lever and PTO switch to the
“neutral” positions before start-
ing the engine.
1. Sit in the operator’s seat. If the tractor
is equipped with a ROPS, fasten the
seat belt.
2. Set the parking brake.
3. Place main gear shift lever and PTO
switch in the neutral position.
4. Place hydraulic control lever in low-
est position.
5. Set the throttle lever approximately 1/
4 of the way forward (approximately
1500 rpm position).
6. Insert the key into the key switch and
turn it on.
7. Make sure that the engine oil pressure
lamp is on.
8. Fully depress the clutch pedal and turn
the key switch left, until the glow plug
lamp turns red. Though the glow plug
lamp turns red in about 15 seconds, it
takes at least 30 seconds until the pre-
heating coil in the combustion cham-
ber is fully heated after starting. The
lower the ambient temperature, the
longer the preheating time. For the nec-
essary preheating time, refer to the
table below:
9. Turn the key switch to the start posi-
tion and the starter will turn and the
engine should start.
10.Make sure that the engine oil pres-
sure lamp has gone off. If the lamp is
still on, immediately stop the engine and
check the lubrication system.
11.Perform warm-up operations by run-
ning the engine at the medium speed.

WARNING
If the starter switch is turned to
the right and the engine does not
catch within about 10 seconds,
wait about 30 seconds and repeat
the above procedures. If the
switch is used for over 30 seconds
or is continuously used without
any rest, it will cause starter
damage.
If the oil pressure lamp or the bat-
tery charge lamp does not go off
after the engine starts and runs
at a specified speed, there is some-
thing wrong with the lubrication
system or the battery charging
system.
Always allow engine to warm up
before applying a load.
