5.10.4 Governor System Operation Test
Hazardous voltage.
Can cause severe injury or death.
Operate the generator set only when
all guards and electrical enclosures
areinplace.
Moving parts.
WARNING
Servicing the generator set when it is operating. Exposed
moving parts can cause severe injury or death. Keep
hands, feet, hair, clothing, and test leads away from the belts
and pulleys when the generator set is running. Replace
guards, screens, and covers before operating the generator
set.
If the engine continues to operate erratically after the
previous checks, test the governor system operation
using the following procedure. The procedure is
summarized in the flowchart in Figure 5-16.

operation at startup. Does
it move to fully open and
then move to and stay in
the fully closed position?

Check the stepper
motor coils.

Troubleshoot the
controller.

motor connections

Check for broken or
loose wiring or
connections and other

Check that the
carburetor throttle
linkage is connected to
the stepper motor as
shown in Figure 5-15.
Check the linkage
to the carburetor.
