RUNNING IN THE MACHINE

RUNNING IN THE MACHINE
Before shipment, each machine was carefully checked and ad-
justed. A machine which is to be run in for the first time has to be
treated with utmost care during its first 100 operating hours. If
the machine is used for work involving loads exceeding the
specified maximum load valid for the running-in period, its per-
formance may be prematurely impaired and its service life may
be shortened. A new machine must be run in and serviced very
carefully and thoroughly. The following points are particularly im-
portant:
• After the engine has been started, it must run in idle for 5
minutes.
• Operation with heavy loads or at high speeds is to be avoid-
ed.
• Sudden starts, sudden acceleration, jerky steering and stop-
ping is to be avoided; this does not apply to emergency situ-
ations.
Note that particular maintenance measures apply only to a ma-
chine during its running-in period (see also chapter "Mainte-
nance").
