5-7
NOTE:
• For safety, the engine in a manual transmission
vehicle cannot be started unless the gearshift
lever is in the neutral position.
• In an automatic transmission vehicle other than
FM65F, the engine cannot be started unless the
range selector lever is in “P” or “N” position. It is
safer to start the engine with the range selector
lever in the “P” position. Start the engine with the
range selector lever in the “N” position only
when absolutely necessary, for example, if the
engine stops while the vehicle is on a railroad
crossing.
• In an automatic transmission vehicle of the
FM65F, the engine cannot be started unless the
range selector lever is in the “N” position.
2 Starting procedure
1. Turn the starter key to the “ON” position.
NOTE:
If a buzzer sounds when the starter key is turned to
the “ON” position, activate the parking brake.
Should the buzzer still continue sounding with the
parking brake activated, the air tank pressure or the
brake fluid level is too low. P. 6-9, P. 6-10
2. Check whether the indicator lamp illumi-
nates or not.
