OIL PICKUP ASSEMBLY INSPECTION
The oil pickup assembly is located in the Mag side
crankcase
q
.
1. Pull and twist to remove the oil pickup assembly from
the crankcase.
2. Inspect the assembly for cracks and excessive wear.
Replace if necessary.
3. Remove and discard the O-ring.
4. Thoroughly clean the pickup assembly
5. Replace the o-ring and lubricate with clean engine
oil.
6. Press the pickup assembly into the crankcase until
fully seated.
OIL PRESSURE REGULATOR (BYPASS)
VALVE INSPECTION
The oil pressure regulator (bypass) valve is located in the
Mag side crankcase

.
1. Use a brass drift to press out the oil pressure valve
from the crankcase.
2. Replace the oil pressure valve if the inner plunger
binds, sticks or does not operate smoothly.
3. Remove and discard the o-ring.
4. Thoroughly clean the valve.
5. Replace the o-ring and lubricate with clean engine
oil.
6. Press the oil pressure valve into the crankcase until
fully seated.
CRANKCASE INSPECTION
1. Remove all traces of gasket sealer from the
crankcase mating surfaces. Inspect the surfaces
closely for nicks, burrs or damage.
2. Be sure alignment pins are in place where used.
3. Be sure oil passages are clean and free of any
cleaning solvent.
