Example 1 V Notch Weir
In this example it is required to calculate the flow through a Simple
Exponential Device, which on this occasion is a V-Notch Weir. The K factor
for the weir is unknown so ratiometric calculation will be used, there is no
requirement for alarms and the flow rate is to be displayed in Mil USG/day.
The totaliser is to record the flow in 1000’s USG but is not to be displayed
during RUN. The transducer to be used is a dB3.
The distance from the face of the transducer to zero flow (P105) is 40
inches and max head (P704) is 15 inches, maximum flow (P705) is known
to be 2.2 million US gallons/day.
