Standard overlock seams and rolled hems
Sewing standard overlock seams
Seam width finger switch
Set the seam width finger switch to S to
push the seam width finger forward.
Note: The seam width finger switch must
be moved all the way toward the adjust-
ment mark S.
Sewing rolled hems
Set the seam width finger switch to R to
slide the seam width finger back.
Note: The seam width finger switch must
be moved all the way toward the adjust-
ment mark R.
Linking and sample seams
With the machine fully threaded, place all thread under the presser foot
toward the back, slightly toward the left, across the throat plate.
Hold the threads slightly taut.
Turn the hand wheel 2 to 3 full turns toward you to start forming the
thread chain.
Lower the presser foot.
Continue holding on to the thread chain and activate the foot control
until the free chain is approx. 5–7.5 cm.
Place the fabric piece under the presser foot from the front, and sew a
sample seam.
Note: Never pull the fabric piece whilst sewing, as the machine could
otherwise bend and break.
Adjusting the thread tension

Note: The following tensions are only recommendations.
Thread tension is determined by:
1) Fabric type and thickness
2) Needle size
3) Thread quality and thickness

Seam width head S
Stitch length 2–4
Use converter
Needle thread
Top side Underside
Left looper thread
Correct tension setting
Set each tension dial to the following setting and sew a sample seam
using the fabric scrap.
