8 Security
Security settings in the security page allow blocking or selectively allowing different types of data
through the router from the WAN to the LAN. Additionally, the settings allow the device’s firewall
to be enabled or disabled.
• Java Applets, Cookies, ActiveX controls, Popup Windows, and Proxies can be blocked
using this page. Firewall Protection turns on the Stateful Packet Inspection (SPI) firewall
features.
• Block Fragmented IP packets prevents all fragmented IP packets from passing through
the firewall.
• Port Scan Detection detects and blocks port scan activity originating on both the LAN
and WAN.
• IP Flood Detection detects and blocks packet floods originating on both the LAN and
WAN.
8.1 Firewall
8.1.1 User Provisioning for Firewall
Security Tab / Firewall
Click on the Security tab, and then click on Firewall tab. The page displays Firewall setup
information. Here user can set and display:
IPv4 Firewall: Firewall Security Level, LAN – to – WAN, WAN – to - LAN
IPv6 Firewall: IPv6 Firewall Security Level, LAN – to – WAN, WAN – to - LAN
Advanced Settings:
• IPSec Passthrough (Allows or prevents an IPsec VPN client that is connected to the
gateway to connect to a remote IPsec VPN connection)
• PPTP Passthrough (Allows or prevents a PPTP VPN client that is connected to the
gateway to connect to a remote PPTP VPN connection.
• Block Fragmented IP Packets (Prevents or allows all fragmented IP Packets from
passing through the firewall)
• IP Flood Detection (Protects against massive number of packets being sent to the router
for overwhelming it, such as a Denial of Service attack)
