Application Examples
To select the rise time m easurement, follow these steps:
1. Push the Meas button to see the Select Measurement menu.
2. Push the chann el 1 button and then the Select Measurement for
Ch1 screen button.
3. Select the Rise Time measurement.
Rise time is t ypi cally m easured b etween the 10% and 90% am plitude
levels of a s ignal; these are the default reference levels t he oscilloscope
uses for rise time measurem ents. How ever, in this example you need
to measure the time the signal takes to pass between the 0.8 V and
2.0 V levels.
You can customize the rise time measurement to measure the signal
transition t im e between any two reference levels. You can set each of
those reference levels to a specic percent of the signal amplitude or to
a specic level in vertical units (such as volts or amperes).
Setting Reference Levels. To set the reference levels to specic voltages,
follow these steps
:
1. Push the Reference Levels screen butto n.
2. Push the Set Levels in screen button to select units.
3. Push the High Re
f screen button.
4. Use the general purpose knob to select 2.0 V .
5. Push the Low Ref screen button.
6. Use the gener
al purpose knob to s elect 800 mV.
The m easurement veries that the transition time (3.842 ns) meets the
specicat
ion ( 10 ns).
