Checking the Coolant Level
CAUTION
If the engine has been running, the pressurized, hot coolant can escape, which could
result in minor or moderate injury.
• Do not open the radiator cap when the engine is running.
• Use a rag when opening the radiator cap, and open the cap slowly to allow steam
to escape.
1. Prepare the machine for maintenance.
2. Open the hood.

3. Check the level of coolant in the expansion
tank.
Note: The coolant level is correct if it is
between the add
and full marks on the
side of the tank.
4. If the coolant level is low, remove the
expansion-tank cap
and add the specified
coolant until the level it is at the full mark.
Note: Do not overfill the expansion tank with
coolant.
5. Install the expansion-tank cap.
6. Close and latch the hood.
Inspecting the Cooling System Hoses
Inspect the cooling system hoses for leaks, kinked lines, loose mounting supports, wear,
loose fittings, weather deterioration, and chemical deterioration.
Note: Make all necessary repairs before operating.
Cleaning the Engine Cooling System
1. Prepare the machine for maintenance.
2. Raise the hood.
