In case of emergency
There are safety functions which are activated when certain faults occur, to protect the engine. The following can
occur:
● Engine can not be started
● Reverse gear in neutral and engine speed is limited to 1000-1200 rpm, depending on engine.
● The engine stops
Flash out any fault codes and recommendations (EVC only). Please refer to the “Diagnostic function” and “Fault
codes” chapters.
Start with auxiliary batteries
WARNING! Ventilate well. Battery gas is explo-
sive.
WARNING! Never confuse positive and nega-
tive poles on the batteries.
1. Connect red jumper cable to positive pole (+) of
the fl at battery, then to the positive pole of the
help start battery.
2. Connect black jumper cable to negative pole (–)
of the help start battery, and then to a place some
distance from the fl at batteries, such as the nega-
tive connection on the starter motor.
Shutdown override (EVC only)
When activated, only overspeed and broken wire
shutdowns are active.
Activate SHUTDOWN OVERRIDE by turning key
switch on the shutdown panel clockwise. SHUT-
DOWN OVERRIDE is indicated by Lamp on the pa-
nel.
IMPORTANT! When shutdown override is active
the engine is not protected by the SDU.
WARNING! Black jumper cable (–) must not
touch positive connection on the starter motor.
WARNING! Do not touch poles during start at-
tempt, risk of arcing. Do not bend over the bat-
teries.
3. Start engine and run at fast idle for ten minutes to
charge the batteries.
4. Stop the engine. Remove the jumper cables in the
reverse order from installation.
Start with active shutdown (EVC only)
In an emergency, if the shutdown unit has stopped
the engine, it is possible to run the engine despite the
activated shutdown.
1. Override the shutdown unit refer to section SHUT-
DOWN OVERRIDE.
2. Push the SHUTDOWN RESET-button on the engi-
ne-mounted electrical box.
3. Start the engine.
