8 CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
8.1 CLEANING
8.1.1 CLEANING PERSONNEL
Cleaning work should be undertaken regularly and carefully by qualied and trained
personnel. They should be informed of specic hazards during their training.
The following hazards may arise during cleaning work:
risk to health from inhaling solvent vapors,
use of unsuitable cleaning tools and aids.
8.1.2 CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS
From Chapter 3.1.1 (identication X):
If there are deposits on the surfaces, the device may form electrostatic charges. Flames or
sparks can form during discharge.
Remove deposits from the surfaces to maintain conductivity.
DANGER
Explosive powder/air mixes!
Danger to life and equipment damage.
Before starting cleaning or other manual work, the high voltage must be shut down
and locked to prevent it from being switched back on!
The spray gun must be separated from the high-voltage supply before any cleaning
work is started!
Use only electrically conductive tanks for cleaning liquids! Ground the tank!
Preference should be given to non-ignitable cleaning uids.
Only cleaning agents of explosion class IIA may be used (maximum ignition energy
0.24 mJ).
The cleaning agent's ash point must be at least 15 K above the ambient
temperature.
Ensure that no electric component is cleaned with or immersed into solvent.
The cleaning agent used for cleaning must be suitable for the coating product.
WARNING
Incompatibility of the solvent with the product used!
Risk of explosion and danger of poisoning by toxic gases.
Examine the compatibility of the solvent when in contact with the used products on
the basis of the safety data sheets.
