Ignition unit and component
3. Turn the engine start switch to OFF.
4. Remove the engine temperature sensor.
5. Place the engine temperature sensor in a
container of water and heat the water
slowly.
6. Measure the engine temperature sensor
resistance.
7. Install the engine temperature sensor.
See “Cylinder block (F150A, FL150A)”
(7-52).
8. Connect the engine temperature sensor
coupler.
Checking the thermoswitch
1. Disconnect the thermoswitch connectors.
2. Turn the engine start switch to ON, and
then measure the input voltage at the
thermoswitch connectors.
3. Turn the engine start switch to OFF.
4. Remove the thermoswitch.
5. Place the thermoswitch in a container of
water and heat the water slowly.
6. Check the switch for continuity at the
specified temperatures. Replace if out of
specification.

Engine temperature sensor input voltage:
Black/Yellow (B/Y)–Black (B)
4.75–5.25 V
Engine temperature sensor resistance
(reference data):
128.0 k atC (4F)
54.20–69.00 k at 20 °C (68 °F)
3.120–3.480 k at 100 °C (212 °F)
