3.3.1. Inspection, oil level gearbox axis 1

Inspection through the oil plug, filling
The procedure below details how to inspect the oil level, axis 1 gearbox, when the oil plug
for inspection (shown in figure Location of gearbox on page 150) is not available .

WARNING!
Handling gearbox oil involves several safety
risks. Before proceeding, please read the
safety information in the section WARNING -
Safety risks during work with gearbox
lubricants (oil or grease) on page 51.
2.
DANGER!
Turn off all electric power, hydraulic and
pneumatic pressure supplies to the robot!
Turn off all electric power and hydraulic but not
the air pressure to the gearboxes, motors and
SMB.
3. Remove the motor, axis 1. Detailed in section Removal, motor
axis 1 on page 328.
4. Measure the oil level through the motor hole.
Required oil level: 40 mm ± 5 mm to the motor
hole.
5. If necessary, fill with lubricating oil or drain. Art. no. is specified in Required
equipment on page 150!

6. Refit the motor, axis 1. Detailed in section Refitting, motor
axis 1 on page 329.

Do not mix oil types! If wrong oil is refilled, the
gearbox must be rinsed as detailed in section
Type of oil on page 192.
