FRONT WHEEL
DISASSEMBLY
CAUTION
The disassembly and reassembly of the
front wheel may be difficult for
unskilled operators.
If necessary, contact an aprilia Author-
ised Dealer.
If you want to perform these operations
personally, keep to the following
instructions.
Carefully read page 40
(MAINTENANCE).
When disassembling and reassembling,
be careful not to damage the brake
hoses, the discs and the pads.
u Place the vehicle on the centre stand on
firm and level ground.
NOTE Prepare a 200 x 200 mm support
base and suitable height.
u Place the support under the vehicle and
a spongy cloth between them, so that
the front wheel can move freely and the
vehicle cannot fall down.
CAUTION
Make sure that the vehicle is stable.
u Place a support (1) under the tyre to hold
the wheel in place once released.
u Loosen the screw (2) on wheel shaft
clamp.
u Unscrew the wheel shaft (3) completely.
Wheel shaft driving torque:
50 Nm (5.0 kgm).
u Support the front wheel and manually
withdraw the wheel shaft (3).
u Collect the washer (4).
CAUTION
Never pull the front brake lever after
removing the wheel, otherwise the
calliper pistons may come out of their
seats, thus causing the outflow of the
brake fluid.
In this case consult your aprilia Au-
thorised Dealer, who will carry out the
proper maintenance operation.
u Move the front wheel forward and
remove the disc from brake calliper (5).
u Remove the front wheel completely.
u Disengage the odometer fitment (6).
