INSPECTING THE FRONT AND
REAR SUSPENSIONS
Carefully read page 40
(MAINTENANCE).
Verify tightening of all parts and operation
of front and rear joints after the first
1000 km (625 mi) and then every 4000 km
(2500 mi).
CAUTION
In the event of faulty operation or if you
need assistance contact an aprilia Au-
thorised Dealer.
CHECKING THE STEERING
Carefully read page 40
(MAINTENANCE).
Occasionally it is necessary to make a
check to find out possible clearances on
the steering.
To perform this check, proceed as follows:
u Place the vehicle on the centre stand on
firm and level ground.
NOTE Prepare a 200 x 200 mm support
base and suitable height.
CAUTION
Make sure that the vehicle is stable.
u Place the support under the vehicle and
a spongy cloth between them, so that
the front wheel can move freely and the
vehicle cannot fall down.
u Shake the fork in the riding direction.
NOTE Do not shake the fork
excessively, otherwise you may take in
consideration the movement of the stand,
thus observing an incorrect slack.
Repeat the previous operation more than
once.
u If you detect a clear clearance, contact
an aprilia Authorised Dealer that will
restore steering ideal conditions.
