REAR WHEEL
DISASSEMBLY
CAUTION
The disassembly and reassembly of the
rear wheel may be difficult for unskilled
operators. If necessary, contact an
aprilia Authorised Dealer.
If you want to perform these operations
personally, keep to the following
instructions.
Carefully read page 40
(MAINTENANCE).
Before carrying out the following
operations, let the engine and the
silencer cool down until they reach
room temperature, in order to avoid
burns.
u Place the vehicle on the centre stand on
firm and level ground.
u Remove the exhaust silencer, see
page 53 (REMOVING THE EXHAUST
SILENCER).
u Remove the cover (1).
NOTE Block wheel rotation to be able to
loosen the wheel nut (2).
u Operate the rear brake lever (3), then
use a piece of cardboard (4) and fit a
plastic tie (5) so to keep the rear brake
lever on.
u Loosen and remove the wheel nut (2),
collect the washer.
NOTE When reassembling, replace the
(special) wheel nut with a new one.
Wheel nut (2) tightening torque:
110 Nm (11 kgm).
u Release of the rear brake lever.
u Loosen splashguard.
u Remove the wheel.
NOTE Only use aprilia Genuine Spare
Parts.
u Reassemble and then check that the
following parts are not dirty:
–tyre;
– wheel.
CAUTION
After refitting, work the rear brake lever
repeatedly and check for proper
operation of the brake.
Check the wheel truing.
I t is recommended to have the
tightening torques, the wheel truing and
balancing checked by an aprilia Au-
thorised Dealer, in order to avoid any
failure that might seriously injure the
rider and/or other people.
