CHECKING THE STAND
Carefully read page 40
(MAINTENANCE).
It is important that no components interfere
with stand (1) rotation.
Check for the following:
u The springs (2) must not be damaged,
worn, rusty or weakened.
u The side stand must rotate freely, if
necessary grease the joint, see page 75
(LUBRICANT CHART).
CHECKING THE SWITCHES
Carefully read page 40

lever (4).
To reach the switches:
u Remove the front handlebar cover, see
page 52 (REMOVING FRONT
HANDLEBAR COVER).

u Make sure that there are no dirt or mud
deposits on the switch; the pin must be
able to move without interference,
returning automatically to its initial position.
u Make sure that the cables are connected
correctly.
IDLING ADJUSTMENT
Carefully read page 40
(MAINTENANCE).
Adjust the idling after the first 500 km (312
mi) and every time it is erratic.
To carry out this operation, proceed as
follows:
u Ride for a few miles until reaching the
operating temperature, then stop the
engine.
u Remove the inspection cover, see
page 53 (REMOVING FRONT
INSPECTION COVER).
u Connect an electronic rev counter to the
spark plug cable.
WARNING

proceeding.
u Start the engine.
The engine idle speed must be
