Rear view camera displays
Switch to parking sensors.
Switch to rear “Perpendicular park-
ing”.

Switch to “Crossing trac”.
Switch to “Trailer support” parking
mode.
Red line: boundary or safety clear-
ance.
Yellow lines: vehicle path depending
on the steering angle.
Green lines: boundaries.
Active Park Assist displays
Switch Active Park Assist on and o.
Additionally for vehicles with Pro Trail-
er Backup Assist
Switch on Pro Trailer Backup Assist.
NOTICE
Visual and acoustic warnings are given only
for ob
stacles in the vehicle path.
In the camera image, the orientation
lines are shown b
y the system regard-
less of the vehicle surroundings. No auto-
matic detection of obstacles by cameras
takes place. Drivers must judge for them-
selves whether the vehicle will fit into the
parking space.
All of the reversing camera’s guiding
lines are hidden when the factory-fit-
ted towing bracket is connected electrically
to a trailer. The same applies when the
boot lid where the camera is installed is
open.
Automatic braking intervention
The automatic braking intervention of
a parking system is designed to reduc
e
the possible damage due to a collision
if an obstacle is detected during the
parking manoeuvre.
Braking functions
The following systems may be available
depending on the vehicle equipment:
Manoeuvre braking of the parking sen-
sors page 193.
Emergency braking function of Active
Park Assist page 197.
Emergency braking function of Cross
Trac Alert page 203.
Prerequisites
The vehicle does not exceed a maxi-
mum speed of around 10 km/h (6 mph)
when manoeuvring.
A parking system is active.
An obstacle is detected by the system.
The automatic braking intervention does
not take pla
ce if the parking sensors have
been activated automatically when driving
forwards page 194.
What happens when an automatic brak-
ing intervention takes place?
The vehicle is braked.
Or: the vehicle is braked to a standstill
and can then be held for around 1.5 sec-
onds. Step on the brake!
Switching o
The automatic braking intervention func-
tion is switched o as soon as a parking
system is deactivated.
The manoeuvre braking function can be
permanently deactivated:
1. Press the touch panel for parking func-
tions
