Non-Alarm Troubleshooting
This section describes probable causes and corresponding action steps for non-alarm problems.
Agitate/Wash-In Operation Not Working (AGITATE WASH IN Light Illuminated)
The centrifuge does not agitate and/or a valve does not open.
Probable Cause Action
No valve or multiple valves were programmed to open during an
Agitate/Wash-In operation, placing the COBE 2991 a Hold status.
Reprogram the COBE 2991 as needed:
• For the LED program board, see “VALVE SELECT” on page 4-5.
• For the pin-diode program board, see “VALVE” on page 5-4.
Circuit breaker CB3 has been tripped. 1 Reset circuit breaker CB3.
See “CIRCUIT BREAKERS” on page 3-10.
2 If the condition recurs, contact a qualified service
representative.
The CENTRIFUGE SPEED was set to zero during the Start/Spin or
Supernatant-Out operations. If the centrifuge is not spinning during
the Supernatant-Out operation, the Agitate/Wash-In circuitry will not
be properly activated.
1 Check the CENTRIFUGE SPEED setting.
2 If the CENTRIFUGE SPEED was set to zero, press STOP RESET to
reset the COBE 2991.
Internal malfunction. Contact a qualified service representative.
Caution: Before attempting to reset a circuit breaker, always unplug the
power cord.
Warning: Only trained technical personnel should open the front and
right panel doors. Only qualified service personnel should open the left and
rear panel doors. A special tool may be required to open the panel doors.
