3.4 Special Tools
The following special tools are required for building the harness.
3.4.1 Milliohm Meter
A milliohm meter with an accuracy of +0.1 milliohm (or better) to perform continuity and power/ground checks.
3.4.2 Crimp Tool
A crimp tool meeting MIL specification M22520/2-01 and a positioner/locator are required to ensure consistent,
reliable crimp contact connections for the D-Sub connector. D-sub insertion/extraction tools from ITT Cannon are all
plastic, others are plastic with metal tip.

3.4.3 Test Equipment
The following equipment is required for the pre and post installation checks.
• Ground power source (capable of powering all aircraft systems)
• Transponder ramp test set (e.g., Aeorflex IFR-6000 or TIC TR-220)
• ADS-B test set (e.g., Garmin GDL 39 and Garmin Pilot application) if a transponder ramp test set is not capable
of receiving UAT (978 MHz) ADS-B Out messages
