Stopping and restarting the DS Storage Manager servers on a Linux
operating system
You can type the following commands to check on the status of the servers and
then to stop or restart them on a Linux operating system.
Open a command prompt window and use the following commands to check status
and stop or start the servers.
1. Type /etc/init.d/dsStorageManagerServer status to see the status of the DS
Storage Manager server.
2. Type /etc/init.d/dsStorageManagerServer stop to stop the DS Storage
Manager server.
3. Type /etc/init.d/dsStorageManagerServer start to start the DS Storage
Manager server.
4. Type /etc/init.d/dsnisrv status to see the status of the DS Network
Interface server.
5. Type /etc/init.d/dsnisrv stop to stop the DS Network Interface server.
6. Type /etc/init.d/dsnisrv start to start the DS Network Interface server.
Starting the DS Storage Manager program
The topics in this section describe how to start the DS Storage Manager program.
The DS Storage Manager program times out over a period of inactivity or when you
turn off your computer. The way you start the DS Storage Manager is different
depending on whether you have a Windows or Linux operating system.
Starting the DS8000 Storage Manager on a Windows operating system
You can open the DS8000 Storage Manager using the Programs list. The DS8000
Storage Manager opens in your default browser.
Log on to your Windows operating system and use the following steps to access
the DS8000 Storage Manager program.
1. Click Start.
2. Click Programs.
3. Click IBM TotalStorage Manager DS8000 Storage Manager and then click
Open DS Storage Manager. The DS8000 Storage Manager is opened in the
browser that you have set as your default.
When you start the DS8000 Storage Manager, the IBM TotalStorage DS8000
Signon window is displayed. Enter the user name and password to access the
program. The default user name is admin, and the default password is admin.
Starting the DS8000 Storage Manager on a Linux operating system
You can start the DS8000 Storage Manager on a Linux operating system by issuing
a command from the command prompt window. Within this command, you must
specify the browser that you are using.
Log on to your Linux operating system and follow these steps to start the DS8000
Storage Manager program:
1. Open a command prompt window for Linux.
2. Type browsername https://<host-name>:<port-value> /DS8000/Console
