13.1 Adjusting the basic position of the hand brake lever

– Check the free travel of the hand brake lever.
– Adjust basic position of the hand brake lever to your hand size
by turning adjusting screw

Turn the adjusting screw clockwise to increase the
distance between the hand brake lever and the han-
dlebar.
Turn the adjusting screw counterclockwise to decrease
the distance between the hand brake lever and the han-
dlebar.
The range of adjustment is limited.
Turn the adjusting screw by hand only, and do not
apply any force.
Do not make any adjustments while riding.
13.2 Checking the brake discs
Warning
Danger of accidents Worn-out brake discs reduce the braking effect.
– Make sure that worn-out brake discs are replaced immediately. (Your authorized KTM workshop will
be glad to help.)

– Check the front and rear brake disc thickness at multiple
points for the dimension

Wear reduces the thickness of the brake disc around
the contact surface of the brake linings.
Brake discs - wear limit (EXC-F US)
front 2.5 mm (0.098 in)
rear 3.5 mm (0.138 in)
Brake discs - wear limit (EXC-F SIX DAYS US)
front 2.5 mm (0.098 in)
rear 3.7 mm (0.146 in)
» If the brake disc thickness is less than the specified value:
– Change the front brake disc.
– Change the rear brake disc.
– Check the front and rear brake discs for damage, cracking, and
deformation.
» If the brake disc exhibits damage, cracking, or deforma-
tion:
– Change the front brake disc.
– Change the rear brake disc.
