15.9 Tubeless tire system

This vehicle uses a tubeless tire system in which a rim seal
band

is used instead of the conventional tube.
The advantages of the tubeless system lie in the absence of dan-
ger from a faulty tube. This greatly reduces the risk of a sudden
loss in pressure.
The masses and moments of inertia of these wheels are smaller
than in conventional spoke wheels with a tube. This results in bet-
ter handling and riding comfort.
The rigid rim design results in a spoke wheel that is almost
entirely maintenance-free.
KTM recommends that the rim seal band be changed after 5 years
at the latest, regardless of the actual state of wear.
