Problem:Yourcomputercannotconnecttothenetwork.
Solution:Makesurethat:
Thecableisinstalledproperly.
ThenetworkcablemustbesecurelyconnectedbothtotheEthernetconnectorofyourcomputerand
totheRJ45connectorofthehub.Themaximumallowabledistancefromthecomputertohubis
100meters.Ifthecableisconnectedandthedistanceiswithinacceptablelimitsbuttheproblem
persists,tryadifferentcable.
Youareusingthecorrectdevicedriver.
ForWindows7andWindowsVista:
1.ClickStart,andthenclickControlPanel.
2.ClickHardwareandSound.
3.ClickDeviceManager.Ifyouarepromptedforanadministratorpasswordorconrmation,type
thepasswordorprovideconrmation.
4.Ifthe!markistotheleftoftheadapternameunderNetworkadapters,youmightnotusethe
correctdriverorthedriverisnotenabled.Toupdatethedriver,right-clickthehighlightedadapter.
5.ClickUpdateDriverSoftware,andthenfollowtheinstructionsonthescreen.
ForWindowsXP:
1.ClickStart,andthenclickControlPanel.
2.ClickPerformanceandMaintenance,andthenclickSystem.
3.ClicktheHardwaretab,andclicktheDeviceManagerbutton.
4.IfthexmarkistotheleftoftheadapternameunderNetworkadapter,youmightnotusethe
correctdriverorthedriverisnotenabled.Toupdatethedriver,right-clickthehighlightedadapter.
5.ClickProperties.ThePropertieswindowappears.
6.ClicktheDrivertab.
7.ClicktheUpdateDriverbutton.TheUpdateDeviceDriverwizardappears.Followtheinstructions
onthescreen.
Theswitchportandtheadapterhavethesameduplexsetting.
Ifyouconguredtheadapterforfullduplex,makesuretheswitchportisalsoconguredforfull
duplex.Settingthewrongduplexmodecandegradeperformance,causedataloss,orresultinlost
connections.
Youhaveinstalledallnetworkingsoftwarethatisnecessaryforyournetworkenvironment.
