Riding mode (02_01, 02_02, 02_03, 02_04, 02_05, 02_06, 02_07,
02_08)
The vehicle is equipped with two powerplants that work in parallel: a petrol engine and
an electric motor powered by a specific traction battery. Thus configured, the engine
and motor are both able to supply power to the wheel and give the possibility of
choosing various functioning modes: hybrid or electric. The various functioning modes
that can be selected are the following:
HYBRID POWER: The petrol engine and the electric motor both supply pow-
er to the wheel in order to maximise performance and simultaneously reduce
polluting emissions and fuel consumption. When decelerating and braking,
the electric motor works as a generator to recharge the traction battery, thus
recovering energy that is usually lost.
HYBRID CHARGE: in this hybrid mode, the petrol engine delivers power to
the wheel while recharging the battery or keeping the battery charged. The
petrol engine therefore recharges the battery (up to 90% in approx. 2 hours)
using the electric motor as a generator. To ensure that the electric motor is
used efficiently as a generator, battery charging does not take place at low
speeds. When permitted by the system and with available charge in the trac-
tion battery, the electric motor may also supply additional drive under accel-
eration. This may result in a drop in indicated charge of around 10% on the
instrument panel. Also in this mode, during deceleration and braking, the
electric motor acts as an alternator to recharge the traction battery, thus re-
covering the energy that would otherwise be lost.
ELECTRIC: the electric motor usually supplies power to the wheel. When
decelerating and braking, the electric motor works as an alternator to re-
charge the traction battery, thus recovering the energy that is usually lost.
ELECTRIC REVERSE: the electric motor allows reversing for small ma-
noeuvres in the car park.
