WhenanAISreceiver/transceiverisconnectedtoyoursystem,theAISfeatureenablesyouto
receiveinformationbroadcastbyotherAISequippedvessels,andtoviewthesevesselsastargets
relativetoyourvessel.TheAISfeatureisstandalone,settingsandalarmscannotbesharedwith
otherAISenabledproductsonyoursystem.
HowAISWorks
AISusesdigitalradiosignalstobroadcast‘real-time’informationbetweenvesselsandshore-based
stationsviadedicatedVHFradiofrequencies.Thisinformationisusedtoidentifyandtrackvesselsin
thesurroundingareaandtoprovidefast,automaticandaccuratecollisionavoidancedata.
Note:
ItisnotmandatoryforvesselstobefittedwithoperationalAISequipment.Therefore ,youshould
notassumethatALLvesselsinyourareaaredisplayed.
WithAISdataavailableonyoursystemtheAISFavoritepagecan:
•displaytargetsforanyotherlocalvesselthatareequippedwithanAIS-transceiver .
•displayvoyageinformationbeingbroadcastbythesetargets,suchastheirposition,course,speed
andrate-of-turn.
•displaybasicordetailedinformationforeachtargetvessel,includingsafety-criticaltargetdata.
•setupasafezonearoundyourvessel.
