Using the zoom
There are two zoom functions: optical zoom and digital zoom. You can
specify whether or not the optical zoom and/or digital zoom can be activated
when shooting.
The digital zoom can be used when the resolution is set to 4 or less.

Set the desired zoom to on (see
page 107), and point the camera
lens at the subject.

Press the zoom switch towards [|]
or [1] to compose the desired
image.
|: Zoom in on the subject.
1: Zoom out.
œ When the optical zoom factor
becomes 2.8x, zooming stops
temporarily. When the zoom switch
is again pressed towards |, the
mode changes to the digital zoom
mode and zooming continues (if
digital zooming is enabled).
œ While the digital zoom is active, the
standby indicator flashes green and
the digital zoom icon is yellow (when
the Shooting Setting Screen or
Shooting Information Screen is not
shown).

Press the shutter release button.
CAUTION
œ If the main switch is set to MONITOR OFF or the selector dial is turned
while the digital zoom is active, the digital zoom is canceled and only the
optical zoom (2.8x) is enabled.
