Installing memory modules
Requirement
● You have noted the information on combination options and the conditions of use of
memory modules under "Usable memory modules (Page 94)".
● The device is open, see important information in "Open the device (Page 89)".
● If necessary, the expansion cards may be removed for easier access to the memory
modules, see "Replacing the bus board (Page 143)".
Procedure
1. If you install several memory modules, install them one after the other in the following
order:
– Memory module 1: Slot DIMM 2-1
– Memory module 2: Slot DIMM 1-1
– Memory module 3: Slot DIMM 2-2
– Memory module 4: Slot DIMM 1-2
The slots of the memory modules are labeled on the motherboard.
2. Remove the memory module from its packaging.
Hold it by the upper edges only.
When inserting the base, note the marked cutout must match up with the coding of the
base.
3. Open the two locks on the left and right of the slot.
4. Insert the memory module in the slot perpendicular to the motherboard.
